The Mud Agitator is a key component of tank-type solids control systems for drilling fluids. It is primarily used to mix and agitate drilling fluid through an impeller, maintaining the suspension of solid particles, preventing solids from settling in the circulating tank system, and ensuring consistent, stable, and uniformly mixed drilling fluid performance.
Developed and manufactured by KOSUN, the Mud Agitator features a simple, compact structure and high mixing efficiency. This product series is available in a comprehensive range of specifications. The impeller may be either detachable or non-detachable, and the rotor can be configured as single-layer or double-layer, providing flexible options to meet various operational requirements. Additionally, the impeller can be custom-designed according to specific customer needs, ensuring suitability for different working conditions.

Working Principles

The Mud Agitator mainly consists of an explosion-proof motor, reducer, base, and impeller assembly. The reducer is connected to the impeller shaft via a rigid coupling, and the impeller is fabricated by welding four blades.

The combination of an explosion-proof motor and reducer ensures safe operation in harsh working environments while facilitating convenient maintenance. The motor is horizontally mounted, allowing for easier installation, alignment, adjustment, and replacement.

The Mud Agitator utilizes a helical gear reducer directly connected to the motor. The hardened helical gear teeth provide excellent meshing performance, smooth operation, high load capacity, compact structure, easy installation, and reliable performance.

With strong mixing capability and a wide agitation range, the Mud Agitator significantly reduces starting resistance torque. The impeller generates vortex motion within the drilling fluid, enhancing the mixing effect. The tray positioned between the blades prevents solid particles from settling beneath the blades after shutdown, thereby reducing startup resistance caused by sediment buildup and preventing potential motor overload or damage during restart.
